Our Mission

River Murray Roar has been created by a group of people who are passionate about helping children and their families that have been impacted by cancer. 

These children and families face huge adversity and our committee and community aim to do our part, by Stepping up and Skiing to raise funds and awareness for Lion Hearts Learning, which is an organisation that assists these children and families in need and relies entirely on fund raising to run.

On January 12th 2022, we embark on our 3 day inaugural River Murray Roar Ski marathon from Customs House (near Renmark), to just inside the South Australian border to Wellington, along the Mighty Murray River. A total distance of 560kms. 

We are seeking those of you that are looking for a challenge, to create a team and push yourselves to Step up and Ski for the cause, whilst raising funds and awareness for Lion Hearts Learning. 

  • We have room for 8 boats to join the community.

  • 4 water skiers per boat plus a driver. (At least 2 people in the boat need to be able to drive. 2 water skiers ride at a time and then rotate)

  • Each skier raises a minimum of $2500 (Aim per boat – minimum of $10,000)

  • Each skier gets their own fundraising page

  • Admission fee per participant - $450 (this covers accommodation for 4 nights, breakfast and lunch for 3 days. Participants pay for their own dinner, drinks and snacks)

  • Merchandise will be available at an extra cost

Lion Hearts Learning is a South Australian registered children’s charity that provides a free playgroup/pre-school service to children impacted by Cancer, whether it be their own, a sibling’s, or a parent’s. Children undergoing oncological treatment have severely compromised immune systems and must be kept quite isolated. This means they are unable to attend mainstream community playgroup, and preschool facilities in Adelaide as they find it difficult to provide the hygienic environment required for oncology children due to their high volume of children, so they are denied the social, emotional and educational benefits of preschool.

Lion Hearts Learning (LHL) combats this by ensuring a safe and hygienic environment to the level that these children need. LHL provide social, emotional and educational (preparing for school) type learning.
